[public space AV research] — Mapping Spacetime
Mapping Spacetime is a research series within the Pitch Shifting framework focused on improvised audiovisual performance in public space.
The project investigates time and space as a coupled perceptual field, approached through live sound, real-time visual systems, and site-responsive interaction.
Performances unfold in direct relation to architectural surfaces, environmental conditions, and audience presence. Sound and image are projected and processed in real time, forming shifting spatial configurations that respond to location and movement.
The term “mapping” refers to the projection and modulation of visual material onto physical structures, combined with sound-driven system behaviour that produces audio-reactive and spatially distributed environments.
Each iteration operates as a situational system in which gesture, frequency, light, and environment interact as a single evolving field.
Through this approach, Mapping Spacetime develops a research space between audiovisual systems, perception, and public environments.
